ABOUT

Martin R. Smith is a local historian and former Stamford resident who has worked for the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments and at Stamford Museum, where he developed a series of town trails. He has had several Lincolnshire titles published, including The Story of Stamford, Stamford Myths & Legends, Stamford Then & Now and Folkingham - The Reluctant Town. He also worked as co-author and editor of The Stamford Mercury: Three Centuries of Newspaper Publishing.

The book is produced as a one-off limited-edition hard-back volume of just 175 copies (including supporters and subscribers) and printed by Henry Ling of Dorset to the highest standards. The aim is to offer a really unique high-end product which will stand the test of time and is the perfect gift. It will be litho printed (not digital) on high quality 150gsm sustainable FSC-certified paper, sewn in sections and bound traditionally with red tail bands. It will be hard bound in an aubergine Buckram cloth cover with gold tooling and a gold foil image of a Melbourne's beer label. It will be presented in an elegant gloss-laminated colour dust jacket offset by rich antiquarian-look marbled end papers. The book will weigh an impressive 1.4Kg.
